Aquapura Douro

The place :
In the North of Portugal, Douro flows over 850 km, crossing the country from East to West up to Porto where its mouth is. This Portuguese river meanders through a verdant valley with steep slopes, between a patchwork of terrace vineyards, one hundred year-old olive trees or blooming almond trees. Aquapura Douro

Ancient 19th century manor fully restored and converted into a luxury spa hotel, Aquapura Douro was skillfully built with an architecture harmoniously combining historic heritage and contemporary high design with an Asian touch. Precious exotic woods and tatami floor perfectly match with the architecture of the hotel. Aquapura Douro is certainly one of the most splendid spa or thalasso hotels of Portugal. Located on the South bank of the river Douro, this spa hotel provides an exceptional view of the river and the valley (classified World Heritage by UNESCO).

The hotel runs 50 rooms and suites, and 21 villas. All the rooms and villas are equipped with air-conditioning, flat screen TV, a corner for office, bathrobes, hair dryer, personal deposit box, mini bar, satellite TV. Possibility to obtain hypoallergenic pillows.

You can choose among the following room types:

- Cloister Rooms (39 m²): opening onto the historical cloister of the manor, with a private balcony.

- Valley Rooms (42 m²): facing the valley of Douro, opening onto the centenary cedar trees or the vines, most of them with a balcony or a terrace.

- Spa Rooms (46 m²): opening onto the woods, with a panoramic window, a small private swimming-pool, tatami floor giving them an Asian touch. If you like you can even receive your spa treatments in your room.

- River Rooms (50 m²): offering a panoramic view of the meanders of Douro. The bathroom consists of a bathtub with a separated shower stall.

More spacious and luxurious, the suites have the following categories:

- Club Suites (58 m²): comprising a lounge corner, with a view of Douro or the vineyards and, in this case, have a private balcony.

- Panoramic Suites (82 m²): with their lounge corner, offer an excellent view of Douro which you will not stop contemplating through the panoramic bay-windows.

- Winter Garden Suite (86 m²): offers a superb view of the vines, with a balcony.

- Duplex Suites (86 m²): within a more medieval setting, these particularly charming suites are situated in the tower of the hotel. They are two-floored, thus offering a view of Douro or the vines.

- Douro Suites (107 m²): comprising a dining room with balcony, a lounge, a dressing room and a particularly large bathroom. They offer a view of Douro and the vines.

- Presidential Suites (165 m²): this amazingly luxurious and spacious suite possesses 2 living-rooms, 1 dining room, 1 balcony and 3 rooms.

As for the villas, they are ideal for family accommodation. They contain 1, 2 or 3 rooms, measuring 138 to 230 sq.m.. They all give direct access to their own swimming-pool either individual or shared with other villas. They are situated next to the spa hotel, surrounded by vines or the banks of the river Douro.

A wide range of services are available: 24h room services, car rental, laundry, 24h medical aid, 24h concierge service for the organization of excursions and activities... No kid's club but baby-sitting service.

Please note that your luxury hotel is adapted to accommodate seminars and groups, with especially a perfectly equipped business centre and several meeting rooms, the biggest one of which measures 100 sq.m.. WIFI connexion in all rooms.

Your luxury spa hotel proposes 2 restaurants and 2 bars, one of which near the swimming-pool. A modern wine cave, conserving a whole range of Porto wines, allows you to choose your favourite vintage or enjoy some wine tasting sessions.

Restaurant "Almapura"

This fine-dining restaurant combines Portuguese and Mediterranean cuisines.

Here you have the opportunity to discover the region in a different way: you can taste a selected number of the best wines of Douro, and from all over the world as well.

Sports and Activities :
100 km from your spa hotel is Porto, where the Douro river estuary is. Do not miss the occasion to discover the 2nd biggest city of Portugal after its capital city Lisbon. Porto is a charming town turning towards Douro, at the crossroads of modernity and history. You will enjoy discovering this town: walking along its alleys and especially in the old historic centre, Ribeira, classified as World Heritage by UNESCO. This enlivened precinct conserves the majority of the monuments of Porto: Igreja de Sao Francisco and the cathedral Sé, well-known for its magnificent “azulejos” i.e. the famous enameled faience tiles typical of Portugal. Climb to the top of the church Dos Clerigos from where you can have a fantastic view of the town. Take a visit to Fondation Serralves, a superb modern art museum. Then, walk across the bridge Dom Luis I, a real symbol of the town connecting Porto to the precinct of Gaia. The wine warehouses of Porto are in Gaia where a number of small winemakers let the famous Wine of Porto mature in old barrels... Again, an occasion for you to enjoy some wine tastings!
